Traditional Publishing

Want to see your book on the shelves of your local bookstore?

Self-publishing is more popular than ever before, but nearly every single book in a bookstore will have been traditionally published—published not by the author themselves, but by a publisher, like Penguin Random House. Traditionally published books are the books that get chosen for bestseller lists, that win awards, that make their authors truly respected and widely read.

In today’s oversaturated and increasingly AI-infested literary market, the seal of approval of being traditionally published is extremely valuable. Readers want to know a book is worth their time, and proving that not only the author but also an agent and a whole publishing house agree that a book is high quality means a lot. This is how to make your writing stand out from the crowd.

Choosing traditional publishing is choosing to shoot for the stars. But it is a difficult, exclusive path with lots of misinformation floating around it.

In this course, you’ll learn what they don’t teach you in writing school: how to publish the dang thing.

We’ll learn:

  • How to prepare your book for submission and make it enticing
  • The different types of publishing and which is right for you
  • What to do when you get rejected
  • How to get and work with an agent, including writing query letters
  • What happens after you get that elusive agent
  • Choosing a publisher
  • And more!

This is aimed at fiction novel writers, but there is helpful information for other authors (nonfiction, memoir, poetry, etc.) as well.

I’m Christina Bagni, CEO of Wandering Words Media and traditionally published author. I have taken every grueling step on the journey toward traditional publication. Along the way, I realized that while writing advice is plentiful, the advice on actually getting traditionally published is sparse and confusing, with less and less helpful advice the closer you get to the goal.

That’s why I created this course: to light the path toward your publishing dreams. I hope to help you get an agent and a publisher, and finally see your book on the shelves and in the hands of your readers.
